Happy Holidays to everyone. I can't believe this year is coming to a close. The Livermore Valley Wine Country Wedding Faire was a great success and dates are booking fast, especially in July and August. Our Bridal Faire promotion ends December 31, 2009 (book your date with deposit and get 10% off the entire order).

Thanks to all of you who stopped by our booth at the Livermore Valley Wine Country Wedding Faire last weekend. The Faire was a huge success! Just so you know, the wedding flower package was won by a person in Pleasanton. Here are some photos of our booth.

Move over Tiffany Blue, Pink is in......

I'm a firm believer that whatever style you want for your wedding or event, it's in vogue.

Having said that, there are trends that are more popular than others. Tiffany Blue and Chocolate have been a popular trend for the last few years. Now we are seeing a move to pink and chocolate. I have to admit it's a luscious, romantic combination, rich and innocent at the same time.

Some other trends that are expected to be big in the next few years are: Green/Organic-shades of green and brown with natural elements; Ethnic-with rich jewel-tones; Modern-combinations of black, white and brown; "Whisper"-soft tones of creams, grays and blues paired with browns (California Cut Flower Commission); and Value-arrangements that do double-duty, flowers that are cost-effective (like the carnation-out of style for years, but making a come-back).

All in all, it's an exciting time in the floral business. As the economy changes, so does business. We need to provide exceptional value for every customer dollar. We're looking forward to the challenge.

Wedding Trends for 2009-Organic and Socially Responsible

Interested in having an organic or socially responsible event? You're not alone. One of the trends we're seeing in every industry is the moving forward on the environmental and social fronts. In the floral design industry, this translates to using organic and socially responsible materials. There are more and better options for these materials that ever before as growers and manufacturers scramble to keep up with the new demand; flowers, containers; preservatives; ribbons; you name it. Have you heard the buzz about bamboo? Bamboo is a sustainable crop, easy and quick to grow-in fact, I've always thought of it as a weed. Well, I'm changing my mind (maybe it's a good weed). It seems like almost anything can be made from bamboo. You can have a beautiful event and keep your impact on the environment and people as minimal as possible. Check out our website for examples of organic and socially responsible materials. www.fantasiablooms.com
